Overview

Ninetales has the same defense stat as Flareon, and Flareon already pushed the boundary of solo-able tier 3 raids. However, Ninetales has much less attack and therefore is slightly harder. Attackers gain energy a little slower vs. Ninetales because it does less damage.

With the advent of weather bonuses, Waterfall Gyarados, and Kyogre, Ninetales is no longer the dicey challenge that it previously was, as it now has reliable counters.

Approach

Team composition

  • Kyogre is easy mode - the only viable counter at trainer level 30 and below

  • Except for Gyarados, other counters should be used only at max level

Dodging strategy

  • Dodge charge moves that would KO if you can retaliate with a charge move

  • Otherwise, elect to tank charge moves at full force to gain more energy
