Overview

As the heretical marine fossil counterpart to Omastar (praise Helix!), Kabutops shares all of the same counters and then some. Kabutops’s lower defense stat means that it’s doable at a lower level, and some of the stuff that didn’t work against Omastar, such as Hariyama, can take down Kabutops at a high enough level.

Do note that, unlike Omastar, Kabutops can pack a bit of a punch with Rock Smash.

Approach

Team composition

  • Grow that grass: 9 of 11 fastest counters to Kabutops are Grass-types

  • Hariyama, Ho-Oh, Zapdos, and Mewtwo become viable at a high level

  • Groudon greatly aids success vs. Stone Edge and Ancient Power sets

Dodging strategy

  • At low levels (≤30), advise dodging a few charge moves to not wipe out

  • If failing: attempt fewer dodges if timing out, more dodges if fainting out

Counters

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
