Overview

Those expecting an easy time with Hitmonchan are in for a surprise. With his abysmal HP mitigated by tier 3’s constant 3000 HP, Hitmonchan becomes very bulky. He doesn’t hit very hard, although his non-legendary counters don’t like being hit to begin with. Overall, a fairly challenging boss, especially for those lacking in Mewtwo.

Approach

Team composition

  • The top Machamp counters are the most effective Hitmonchan counters

  • Common counters tend to be frail; legendary counters add bulk to team

Dodging strategy

  • Alakazam and Espeon should aim to use 2 Future Sight before fainting

  • Dodging is less necessary for teams with many Mewtwo and Rayquaza

  • If failing: attempt fewer dodges if timing out, more dodges if fainting out

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
