Overview

Granbull claims the title of lowest defense of a tier 3 boss from Porygon. So that means that it’s a pushover, right? Not so fast. Granbull has arguably the best defensive type in GO, with only 2 weaknesses to awful offensive types (Steel, Poison) and resistances to top offensive types (Dragon, Fighting).

At low levels, many of Granbull’s counters are either uncommonly used Pokemon or commonly used Pokemon with strange movesets. That said, many aren’t hard to come by and can be battle ready if weather boosted. At level 30, Granbull folds to neutral hits from Fire-types, Kyogre, and Raikou.

Approach

Team composition

  • Victreebel and Aggron are widely available counters to help DPS or bulk

  • At high levels (≥30), generalists like Kyogre, Raikou, and Moltres suffice

Dodging strategy

  • At low levels (~25), dodge some charge moves to avoid being wiped out

Counters

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
