Giratina Origin Forme Duo Raid Guide

Giratina may be a Ghost, but it's also a Dragon. And whenever a Dragon shows up, chances are very good that Mega Rayquaza is going to make its presence known.

Mega Rayquaza is arguably the absolute best counter here, rivaled in practice only by Mega Tyranitar most of the time. However, it's huge DPS and useful Dragon boost genuinely allow it to pull ahead in most situations, even if it is weak to Giratina's own Dragon Type moves.

Mega Tyranitar is the absolute TDO option for this raid, outlasting everything else thanks to its useful resistances and high natural bulk. On top of that, its DPS is also great in its own right, making it very much a worthwhile pick, even in the presence of Mega Rayquaza.

Mega Gengar falls behind the competition in this raid, but it's still a DPS monster that's capable of dealing huge damage in its time on the field. It's also the best Ghost Type Mega Evolution for this raid, so it's able to differentiate itself if a raid group is heavily invested in Ghosts.

While it can't keep up with Mega Rayquaza, Mega Garchomp hits like a truck and is a good backup Dragon option here.

Basically demi-Gengar in this raid, Mega Banette keeps up high DPS, but falls short by every metric when compared to the Ghost King. Still, it can be a solid backup/budget option if you don't want to spend the Gengar Mega Energy.

Mega Salamence wasn't able to shine for long before Mega Rayquaza's shadow completely covered it, and it will probably never get a chance to shine again. Still, it's an objectively good backup Mega that can put up a real fight if Mega Rayquaza is otherwise occupied.

Mega Latios is a decent backup Dragon Mega, but it's also a risky prospect for this raid. Its Dragon/Psychic typing makes it weak to everything that Giratina can throw at it, so it's probably not going to last for an extremely long time. Still, it's a solid choice if you know that your raid group is leaning heavily into Dragon counters.

Fairy Types are under-powered here, but Mega Gardevoir has the advantages needed to be worth considering. In particular, a 2x resistance to Dragon Type moves... at the cost of a weakness to Ghost, which is generally worse for this raid. Still, it's a good option in-and-of itself.

The current Dragon King, Shadow Salamence hits very hard and is always a great option. Even when fighting Dragon Type movesets, it still has the DPS to make it very worthy of a team slot for this raid.

Shadow Garchomp is one of the Pokemon at the forefront of the non-Mega Dragon meta, and it's an outstanding choice here. High power makes it a very, very good pick that can put in the work.

All of the statements in regards to Shadow Salamence apply here, but with a bit less DPS/a bit more bulk.

Shadow Chandelure is arguably the master of the non-Mega Ghost meta at the moment, and it definitely puts in great work here despite its own weakness to Giratina's many Ghost Type moves.

Despite its little arms, Shadow Tyranitar can drop powerful Brutal Swings while staying alive for a good, long time. If you're after TDO mixed with great DPS, then this is the Pokemon for you.

Palkia's Origin Forme is a great option here, sporting outstanding Dragon Type DPS that approaches the big Shadows.

A bit on the squishy side, Shadow Weavile is still a great attacker for this raid. It prefers facing Ghost Type movesets, as do most Dark Types, but it's useful against any moveset. Just be ready to dodge!

If Shadow Mewtwo can deal Super Effective damage, Shadow Mewtwo will be in the Raid Guide at some point.

As one of the highest DPS options with Shadow Ball, Shadow Mewtwo is definitely a force to be reckoned with, though it doesn't really appreciate Giratina's Ghost Type moves. Dodging is a must for this Pokemon, as you want its reign of terror to last for as long as possible.

While the fact that it only takes neutral damage from Dragon Type moves is of limited utility here, Dialga - Origin Forme is still a great option here.

A blast from the past, Shadow Mamoswine joins Shadow Weavile as a top Ice Type attacker for this raid.

The original Dragon King, Rayquaza will pretty much always show up as an option against Dragon Type Raid Bosses. Just watch out for Dragon Type movesets!

With a performance remarkably close to Rayquaza, Salamence is another staple.

One of the most vanilla Dragons on this list, Haxorus has pretty consistent damage thanks to Breaking Swipe.

This Dark mob-boss-bird can work well here.

Shadow Gardevoir is a bit polarizing. If you're facing Dragon Breath/Dragon Pulse, its double Dragon Type resistance makes it a great option. But if you're up against Ghost Type moves, then it's going to fold pretty quickly.

Shadow Gengar hits like an absolute truck, but it's also extremely frail. Don't expect it to stay long, but do expect it to deal a ton of damage.

Enamorus doesn't quite have Shadow Gardevoir's power, but its better sub-typing means it's not weak to Ghost Type moves.
