Overview

Giratina was the first Gen 4 legendary to appear in raids and will reappear briefly before Giratina Origin Forme becomes the new boss in April. Giratina is an easy trio with many meta Pokemon (Tyranitar, Gengar, Mewtwo), newer Pokemon (Mamoswine, Weavile, Honchkrow), and strong dragons beating the clock with a wide margin… even at level 30. This guide will focus instead on winning with two players.

With CP, type effectivenesses, and HP changes the unboosted duo is now extremely difficult but not impossible. Players need a second team of Rayquaza and some good RNG to beat Shadow Sneak & Ancient Power a small percentage of the time.

With windy boost, a few dragons make the cut. Boosted Dragon Claw is NASTY, and in some ways becomes an exercise in relobbying more than battling.

Approach

Team composition

  • Rayquaza is best by far for duos

  • Windy duo teams can be supplemented with Dragonite, Palkia, and Salamence. Dialga is filler quality

  • Foggy Duo teams should be full of Gengar. Lick is slower than Shadow Claw. Giratina’s Origin forme is filler at best, as it only consistently beats the clock vs Ancient Power

  • Have a second lineup ready or be ready to revive/relobby. Windy Dragon Claw generally requires the 3rd lineup as well

Dodging strategy

  • An occasional dodge can help, especially if it helps avoid a relobby
