Flavor of the Month Archive

Flavor of the Month - Tapu Bulu

We never thought we'd see the day, but poison is the name of the game here! Tapu Bulu sports the only type-combo in the game that can possibly result in a double weakness to poison, meaning even mediocre attackers (AKA all Poison Types) can become Super Stars, and even the "bad" attackers are solid backup options. Moving beyond Poison, Fairy and Grass come together with a number of other really viable weaknesses, so don't be afraid to go another route when building your team.

As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month - Thundurus Therian Forme

Electric/Flying is a pretty synergetic type defensively speaking, only being weak to Ice and Rock. However, Thundurus - Therian Forme is defensively weak, so even the Flavor of the Month counters listed here are generally well within trio range, with some even hitting Duo-level DPS.

As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month - Tapu Lele

Fairy/Psychic is a fairly synergetic typing, but its biggest weakness is Steel. Sticking with Steel Types is generally the way to go, though Ghosts also have great performance, and Poison is good when not facing a Psychic Type moveset. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month - Tapu Koko

The first of the Tapu quartet, Tapu Koko has a rather annoying type-combo to deal with: Electric/Fairy. This leaves only two weaknesses to exploit, Ground and Poison. Yes; we finally have a raid that calls for Poison attackers! Both of these types are fairly weak in overall terms, but Ground tends to pull ahead for the most part. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month - Deoxys

All of the various Deoxys formes share the same weakness set, but keep in mind that their coverage moves can vary quite a bit. Generally speaking, Ghost Types carry top DPS, Dark Types have the highest average bulk depending on moveset, and Bug Types are the budget picks. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month - Registeel

Steel Type has a ton of resistances, but they literally don't matter at all when it's possible to prepare for it and only it like in the case of a raid boss. Fighting and Fire are very strong types, with Ground lagging behind yet still useful. Keep in mind that we're not advocating raising these Pokemon for raids. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month: Regice

Ice has many weaknesses to exploit, and Regice is pure Ice. The list of potential counters here is vast, so it shouldn't be hard to setup a varied team. Keep in mind that we're not advocating raising these Pokemon for raids. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month: Genesect

The answer to any version of Genesect is Fire, and this is no exception. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month: Kyurem

Kyurem has a lot of powerful weaknesses, but Steel is arguably the best counter. Still, we have a lot of ways to take this frigid dragon down... just note that Dragon Types are particularly vulnerable and risky here. As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.

Flavor of the Month: Reshiram & Zekrom

These two Dragon Types only share two weaknesses between them: Dragon and Ground. That said, there are options to prey on their other weaknesses as well.  As always; our Flavor of the Month picks are viable, but should only be used as fillers and not raised specifically for this raid.
