Overview

With Cresselia being yet another Psychic boss in a litany of Psychic bosses, many trainers are by now well prepared. The trifecta of Gengar, Tyranitar, and Mewtwo continue to excel in this matchup. Trainers will quickly notice how weak Cresselia’s attacks are compared to Mewtwo or Deoxys; however, its large defense stat makes the trio somewhat difficult.

Duoing Cresselia is possible with legacy Gengar in foggy weather, but this guide focuses on the trio. All your favorite EX counters can get the job done, with weather giving a few more options.

Approach

Team composition

  • Gengar is the best option vs. Cresselia, except ones with Future Sight

  • Dark-types tank well vs. Future Sight, but are vulnerable to Moonblast

  • Bugs excel in rain, Rayquaza shines in wind, Metagross fancies snow

Battling strategy

  • Dodging can help to avoid re-entry depending on Cresselia’s moveset

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
