In order to obtain a possible shiny Feebas, do you just need to just collect the field research task within the 3 hour window or does the research need to also be completed with this time frame?
If the shiny is randomized for each individual player like regular field research, then you will only have increased chance of it being shiny if you claim the reward during the window. It will drop to the regular shiny rate if it is claimed after.
If the shiny is fixed per pokestop guaranteed for all players that spin that pokestop like Squirtle CD research, then the shiny is only guaranteed if you claim the reward during the window. Again, it will become a regular random shiny chance after.
Great. I'm teaching a 2 hour class in the first two hours of the three hour window. Good thing I'm not that into shinies. (Always like the shiny on a legendary raid, though, because it saves on GR - just use a single pinap berry.)
Just need to make sure I get the quest (or is it quests) during that last hour.
Squirtle was a full-blown Community Day, spawns were the focal point from the start. The sunglasses variants were added to research as a nod to the Squirtle Squad in the anime, though players criticized the decision to recycle the aviators and not use the trademark sunglasses worn in the show. It was the only Community Day to deviate from the standard "Catch 3 for items" research normally found.
With this event defined as a "limited research" event I expect spawns to remain exactly the same. To maximize the amount of Feebas you get you'll need to complete as many research tasks as possible, don't expect increased spawns of them.
Thanks! I knew it was a CD before but was not aware of how you obtained the Squirtle squad version. My friend caught a couple, but my phone would shut down any time I had the game open for more than 30 seconds at that time. Upgraded the phone since then so hopefully I can find a shiny feebas or two.
An interesting point about the Squirtle research was that their shininess was stop dependent. If a research gave a shiny to one person, anyone who claimed that research would get a shiny. This made it easy for those in vocal communities to drive around and rack up 20+ shiny sunglasses Squirtle. IVs were still randomized for each person.
It's yet to be seen if Feebas research will follow the same precedent or if shininess will be randomized. Guess we'll find out in a week.
