Any situation for Typhlosion over Charizard?

I know the two have identical stats, and both will get blast burn, but typhlosion presently cant get firespin, are there any situations where a BB typhlosion would be better than a BB Charizard?

(Note this is only looking at these two, not including any thoughts about entei/moltres being better than both, or BB blaziken in the future)

At best it'll last longer against ice types with dual ice attacks due to Charizard's secondary typing. It will never beat it in terms of DPS though. Against grass, bug, and steel types it will always be strictly worse on both accounts.

Any situation where the "Air" typing of Charizard is a measurable weakness. Other than that, probably not.

I prefer charizard even over moltres and entei for my gym battle party if they stick a Metagross in there. Fire spin plus the 2 bar blast burn melts him like butter. I can take him down before he gets off his meteor mash

Similar to Meganium and Blastoise, BB Typhlosion doesn't upset the meta at all. Sure, it's mono typing potentially gives it an advantage over Charizard and Moltres, but Entei and Flareon are the same in that regard and boast better DPS compared to Typhlosion. TDO-wise, Entei is better and Flareon is almost identical. If you've powered up either of those, then I don't see a pressing need for Typhlosion.

Not unusable though and, especially if it's a personal favourite I don't see it being a crime powering it up.

Probably wont ever power up flaireon (not many relevant match ups) or entei, (have a 96 and 93% research encounter, but without any relevant legendary match ups, dont think I could justify the expense of RC) so might power up one typhlosion as a hold over till I power my Charizard up then.

Personally always liked typhlosion over Charizard, especially shinies

Why would you power up a Typhlosion if you think fire doesn't have many relevant matchups? Just evolve the largest Cyndaquil you find if you need a decent fire attacker to use every now and then.

Metagross and gardevoir are both defenders it seems it will do well against, shadow claw SE's both and resists their defensive charge moves

Entei and flaireon have no relevant raid match ups (to be fair all of them dont, but typhlosion has some gym match ups agaisnt those 2 above, as well as the gengar people love spamming now)

I was thinking SC/BB could be a good and unique combination against Metagross as well. Unfortunately, Ember still beats out Shadow Claw thanks to STAB. There goes uniqueness. Too bad.

Against Gardevoir, there are better options I think, but hey why not.

Nice thing is that Blast Burn is guaranteed on every evolution during that event - I have 7 Flareon's, but not a single one with overheat and I'm not going to waste a CTM on Flareon when I have other more relevant species that are waiting for a move change, plus wanting to stock up on a few for when Gen 4 evolutions finally come out.

Didn't see it like that. Clever. I was keeping a few Flareons for Ice targets but I guess I guess I should transfer non Overheat Flareons rather than BB Typhlosions.

What do you mean by "guaranteed on every evolution during that event"? AFAIK only Quilavas that evolve to Typhlosion will get Blast Burn and it's probably guaranteed to them just like all other CDs after the Dratini day

That's exactly what he meant though? Every Quilava he evolves is guaranteed to get Blast Burn upon evolving to Typhlosion. Evolve an Eevee into a Flareon and it's not guaranteed to get Overheat. He's saying he'd rather not risk needing to dump CTM's into Flareon when Blast Burn Typhlosion comes close enough in performance.

BB Typhlosion should be good, but lack of Fire Spin makes it inferior to Charizard. Plus, BB Charizard is better in Bug and Grass Matchups. I guess the only way BB Typhlosion is better would be against Ice, since Typhlosion handles Ice-types better.

Virtually none, against Ice it's simpler to use Machamp (or MM Metagross) than Typhlosion

What if Niantic decides to give it fs or some better fast move after its cd?

Main series incompatibility. Typhlosion can't learn Fire Spin in the main series otherwise it might have gotten it instead of Ember.

No, because Ember sucks balls. Vs Ice, where it may tank more than Charizard, it's still outdone by numerous other Fire types.

Typlosion has bigger thing to worry about as being a top ice attacker. Like 2 bar Meteor Mash Metagross.

BTW, Metagross also beats Moltress and Entei as a top ice attacker.
