How important is Stamina really?

Let's say I have two mons. One (A) with 15/15/1 IVs, and the other (B) with 11/11/11 IVs. While B has overall higher IVs (33/45 vs 31/45), will it really be a stronger battler? Will the extra few hp on B really count for more than the increased dps and damage reduction on A?

(Obviously the ideal would be to wait for a 15/15/15, but I'm level 25 and have only ever found one of those, so I'm trying to get a better idea of how to compare non-perfect IVs...)

It depends on what you use the pokemon for - I would go for the 11/11/11 Pokemon if I wanted to put it on gym defense since the HP of defending Pokemon is doubled. The 15/15/1 is more offense oriented.

It does depend on what pokemon you are talking about, but not like the other post mentioned. It depends on your pokemon's base stamina. If we are talking about snorlax with a 320 base, the differece between 15 and 0 IV is very small, at lv40 its a 9 hp difference. If its dragonite with 182 base, the difference is about 13 hp at lv40. So in the case of snorlax, due to a high base stamina, the extra 15 from IV contributes less than 5%, thus much less important than the other two IV. In the case of dragonite, since stamina is the lowest base stat for him, the IV of stamina is more important than attack(being the highest attack mon). Over all in battle, it is just incorrect to say attack is less important than defence when attacking, or defence is more important when defending, cus you need to take hits and do dmg no matter you are defending or attacking.
